Laois Volunteer Centre started the Laois Star weaving Group in June 2024 at the Portlaoise Library. The One Million Stars Ireland project is an inclusive community arts project connecting communities across Ireland in solidarity against domestic abuse and all forms of violence. Each eight-point star woven represents light, hope and solidarity against violence, promoting our project’s eight points of healthy love within relationships. Stars are curated into our travelling ‘LOVE’ installation, and other public star installations across the country, spreading love and hope for a future free from violence and abuse for all in our community. Amber Refuge in Kilkenny started this project in Ireland over five years ago and the project is continuing to grow throughout Ireland.
We had a great group of Ladies that came each week and made lots of stars.

Our aim is aid with the number of stars been woven in Ireland and to get communitys together to have fun, learn about a great cause and the different supports that are available and always plenty of tea/ Coffee and biscuits.
