Community Response Checklist

The team at Kerry Volunteer Centre understand that every community and voluntary organisation in Kerry is being impacted by Covid-19, whether it’s scaling up activities to deal with the crisis or curtailing / closing services to protect services users and staff. We are ready and keen to support you. Today’s blog is focusing on adding locally developed material to the resources and information issued by the Department of Rural and Community Develop and the Charities Regulator in recent days.

Our Community Volunteer Response Checklist provides you with practical tips and templates to support your Volunteer engagement and management in response to Covid-19 locally.

As your local Volunteer Centre in Kerry, together with Volunteer Centres across Ireland, we are prioritising support for organisations who are experiencing increased demand for their services and need to recruit volunteers quickly. We have amended our database and processes to register people to become Covid-19 support Volunteers and are prioritising their referral and placement to organisations. We hope you find the following tips useful.

We understand from counterparts in Italy that locally and nationally they experienced a very generous and similar public willingness to help as currently being experienced in Ireland. As you know, Italy is now at the lock down stage, as such Volunteering has become very structured and managed. Well defined volunteer roles, clear volunteer management  guidelines, assigned Volunteer Managers and agreed communication channels will be essential.

We hope that the Community Volunteer Response checklist developed by Kerry Volunteer Centre in conjunction with Clare Volunteer Centre will be a value added resource for your organisation.
